About the Book
My wife and I were married after dating for 18 months. Six months later, she was deployed to the Middle East with the United States Army Reserve for 10 months. It was a very difficult time for me.
My job while she was gone was to support her and keep her spirits up. A task which I gladly embraced. But while I focused on her feelings, I was having to deal with my own, and could not ask her for help.
This project, 400 Days, was conceived as a way to communicate with my wife what I went through while she was gone. It turned into a therapeutic exercise in looking inside myself and finding a way to express photographically what I saw.
The book is the product of that introspection: a collection of photographs complemented with poetry that trace my journey from before she left to the day she came back.
