About the Book
Native to North America is an ecosystem called the Tallgrass Prairie. At one time it occupied one hundred forty million acres that stretched from the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachians, and from the Red River Valley in Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Today, less than 10% of that acreage exists anywhere on the planet. TALLGRASS PRAIRIE is a photographic portrait of the native plants and animals that are the vital force of today's unique prairie landscape.
