About the Book
The big five: rhinoceros, elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, and leopard.
A phrase widely associated with African animals. Originally the list referred to the five most difficult animals to hunt on foot, from the time when safari meant trophy hunting. For most travellers to Africa today it means the top five animals to see or photograph on game drives, usually from a game viewer like an open Land Rover.
Photographs of the big five and other four-legged animals, birds, and plants in this book were taken in July 2015 during a visit to the Tanda Tula Safari Camp, Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa.
The big five are on everyone's checklist for a photo safari, although the other creatures in the greater Kruger, large and small, are equally amazing. The sight of these creatures moving through their native habitat in numbers was truly impressive for this first time visitor.
174 original photographs, 114 pages.
