About the Book
Forest Nation is the culmination of five years photographing the woodland and forests of North Wales. This rapidly changing landscape is testament to man’s immediate needs. The traditional, and often ancient woodlands were felled to make way for rapidly growing coniferous plantations to meet the needs of post war building. Many of these are being replaced by a native mix of broadleaf varieties.
The locations, once similar, are now becoming unique. Thanks to the sympathetic approach of organisations such as Coed Cadw (the Woodland Trust), the hillsides will eventually return the area to their previous grandeur.
