About the Creator
I grew up in Iowa surrounded by rolling hills, flat prairies, and large farms. There I studied classical piano and chemistry while watching the corn grow in never ending fields. My original environments were vast open spaces, dominated by the sky. So, after arriving to Seattle, I discovered very quickly that this wild and active landscape would profoundly affect my work. The mountains became my “triggering subject.” The rock and its formations, patterns, compositions and age amazed me. To feel the earth moving, moved me to use the Northwest environment as inspiration. My work explores the idea of presence, not a strict chronology but a distilled essence, highlighting a spiritual dimension with the Northwest’s environment to put the human world into perspective.
