About the Book
This novel is based on a true story about the Anderson and Barnett families traversing over 250 miles across central Alberta in 1906. After working in dangerous coal mines to scrape up money to purchase farm land, the families load their treasured belongings and head off with 110 head of cattle and a pot bellied pig. The two week journey transpires into a roller coaster of emotions as the settlers face police interrogation, straying animals, rugged terrain, sickness, broken equipment and terrifying encounters with wild animals. The strong bond of friendship, strong family ties and a strong spiritual belief in God delivers them to their new homestead.
