About the Book
Like looking at clouds from a grassy hill, viewers of abstract artist EH Sherman’s work are encouraged to connect with what they see on her canvases, what they feel lives in-between the layers of paint and shifting colors. It’s usually different for each person; “A dog, the comfort of home, the sound of waves…” The artistprefers to remain silent and simply listen. In this book however she talks about what she sees in selected works, what specifically calls to her. In a relatively personal project, this book illuminates some of the thoughts and motivations behind her paintings and process.

Ellen Sherman is an abstract artist working out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her work is meditative in practice and is largely based on the movements and rhythm found in nature. She uses her abstract work as a way to connect viewers, to engage over what they see and feel in the layers of paint and pigment.
