About the Book
These cheers and stories originated in Dr. Theodore Diller’s home in the 1920s. At this point in his life, Dr. Diller’s career in medicine was already well established and in some ways pioneering, as he was one of only three practicing neurologists in Pittsburgh and had published several medical books. His wife, Rebecca Chambers, died of pneumonia in 1908, leaving him with three small children, Winnie, Ted and George, whom he raised with the help of his sister Wood (Angeline). Also regularly at the house were Aunts Kate and Mary, and occasionally Uncle Al, a bachelor, who was such a skeptic that he didn’t believe in the Greeks and the Romans.
