About the Book
The drystone walls, winding over the hills and meadows and lining the country lanes, create a sort of pastoral charm, but seeing the walls as the product of human effort brings an appreciation of the role they have played in the evolution of Irish culture and the function they have acquired in imparting a sense of art and design.
Art in Stone is primarily an art book intending to capture some sense of those roles through abstract media - oil sketches and black and white photography.

After a career in marketing and sales in the hi-tech industries of Northern California, my long time avocation has become my occupation. My first enthusiasm for serious photography came on cruises to exotic locations courtesy of the US Navy. I bought my first Nikon in Yokosuka, Japan. Later, living in Northern California with all of its glorious natural beauty encouraged an interest in landscape photography and oil painting. I now concentrate on studio painting, mostly abstractions derived from my own photographs.
