About the Book
this is a collection of photographs and text that i created shortly after one of the most challenging phases of my life thus far. i experienced heartbreak and loss. i was forced to grow up and move away from the comfort of my childhood and the easy truths it held. the next school year held its own set of challenges. the world as we all knew it vanished, replaced by one governed by fear, hatred, isolation, and limitation. however, I believe that out of the deepest pain comes the most necessary and beautiful growth, that out of the most severe limitation comes the most pure creativity. this project itself has shifted over the course of the semester and has helped me to process my own fear, resentment, avoidance, and pain. it is now a time-specific, place-specific body of work that reminds me to accept challenges as opportunities for growth, to be aware of and welcome change, and, most importantly, cherish the things that feel light.
