    About the Book

    Edit

This book is the true story of a boy born in the bedroom of an Oklahoma farmhouse, to a native American mother who was born in a tent on a river bank. His father was of Irish, German descent, born with an unmatched, fearless work ethic who forged his way through the Oklahoma wilderness while teaching his son Leroy at his side.
They worked the land, grew their own food, hatched baby chicks, butchered hogs, milked cows, caught fish, shot geese and trapped wild animals. Leroy learned a deep appreciation for nature, for God and country.
He experienced fear, falling through frozen ice, poisonous snakes, the excitement of climbing a tree to catch a valuable Mink, the wonderment of a nature watching a spring thunderstorm, the pain of boils, the joy of a homemade toy, the embarrassment of a spanking in school, the pride of running a dairy farm, the happiness of a loving wife and family and the success of pumping oil.
Leroy experienced the fun of having a brother and the tragedy that followed both of them.
