LOCAL Magazine is Toronto’s newest small business publication. The “Issue 1, Spring 2023” edition consists of 5 photoshoots and 72 pages. Each photoshoot is in collaboration with 3-4 different small, local businesses; each one functioning as either the location, clothing or props for the creative, editorial photoshoot. In total, the magazine highlights 26 businesses and creatives; aside from business owners, I also worked with a few stylists, makeup artists, and 8 models. The magazine was created with the intent of fostering creativity and collaboration, and guarantees that everyone involved is benefitting in some way, shape or form. In addition to the creative photoshoots, there are also QR codes throughout the magazine which lead to individual products and websites, as well as write-ups on each business, detailing their backstory and mission with links to websites and social media platforms. The magazine aims to emphasize the importance of shopping from and supporting the local businesses in your community, through the exploration of creative fashion and editorial photography.
