About the Book
Each morning for five years, Rudolph Van Wyk crossed the Auckland Harbour Bridge on the NX1 bus from Red Beach into the city. From his seat beside the window, the harbour slowly revealed itself – light rising behind Rangitoto, clouds stretching across the skyline, reflections forming and dissolving across the water.
What began as a quiet habit soon became a daily act of noticing.
Armed with nothing more than a curious eye and an iPhone, Rudolph began capturing these fleeting moments as they appeared – fragments of colour, light, and stillness above the harbour.
Bridging Moments brings together more than one hundred of these photographs taken between 2019 and 2024 – quiet visual fragments of a city waking.
From golden sunrises to calm harbour reflections, this premium large-format edition invites the viewer to pause and rediscover the quiet beauty of Auckland – the City of Sails.
