About the Book
Centuries passed. Empires rose and fell. The city changed, but the rock remained.
This is the story of a place — and the people who carried it with them when they were forced to leave it behind.
From the ancient kingdom of Urartu to the shared streets of Ottoman Van…
from the rupture of 1915 to the quiet rebuilding of lives in distant lands…
this book traces a journey not just through history, but through memory, survival, and identity.
At its heart are the stories of those who endured — children who became musicians, survivors who became builders, and a community that refused to disappear.
This is not only a history of loss.
It is a story of continuity.
