    About the Book

    Edit

This book contains aerial images taken from a commercial airplane flying to Los Angeles, and back to Hartford. I've always been amazed at how few people take the time to look outside when flying. The patterns, the forces of nature, the palette of all that is below us, is, for a few brief moments, laid out for us to ingest, to ponder, to grasp, if we can.

I wanted to capture some of these images, and just thru simple digital photography modifications bring the images to a different way of seeing them. I wanted us as the viewer to be able to look beyond the obvious, so as not to dismiss what is our good fortune to observe, and find new meaning and respect in its beauty.

I am one of the Pennsylvania farm boys who got to see the world. In my junior year of architecture school, I had the opportunity to study in Europe, and everything changed. After completing my studies in Germany, I traveled extensively from the fjords of Norway to the Isles of Greece. Often traveling solo, I got to experience life at its finest - not in material goods (after all, sleeping on trains every night because a Eurail pass is all one has) isn't glamorous, but it certainly was beautiful. Which has become my life's mission. To see beauty and capture it. To help create it where I can. To live it. Since college, I've lived in Philadelphia, New York and Boston, and now live in the bucolic and culturally rich Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. It's been inspiring, a place of intelligent, creative and lovely friends. But now, not being 'winter-folk" my partner and I are adding Miami to our resumes. Ocean light. Warm breezes. a Latin beat. I cannot wait to share it all.
