      About the Book

      Edit

20 Grade 11 students from St. John's-Ravenscourt School in Winnipeg, Canada have put together a collection of short historical fictions related to the development of Red River between 1738 and 1869. This time period saw the invasion of Europeans, the rise of the HBC and Northwest Company, the birth of a Métis Nation, and inclusion of a group of people into a Dominion called Canada.

Based on our trip to the HBC archives, these stories tell tales of conflict, of colonialism, and of hope. We hope you enjoy them.
