About the Book
Sydney Rose is a collage artist
living and working in Sudbury, Ontario.
A scavenger of sorts, her image sources include discarded books and artworks that have been damaged and abandoned. By isolating and combining these images in new ways and with other materials, her works tell stories of human behaviour and habits – observations of our knack for creation and destruction, our ties to tradition and desire for endless progress, the search for order in chaos, and other conundrums.
With creative interests that lie in the notion of play, tactility, accessibility, lateral thinking and up-cycling, her works aim to evoke a familiar feeling of nostalgia; compositions that toy with reality while exploring the possibilities in the grey areas of knowledge and what we define as truth in our daily lives.
This book contains a selection of
hand-cut collage works from 2017-2018.
