About

I began the nude portrait project ten years ago with the goal of making nude portraits of people of all ages, sizes, shapes, races, ethnicities and lifestyles. I wanted these photographs to celebrate human diversity.

Conventional nude photography focuses on the beauty or eroticism of the human body. The images usually exclude the human face or at most the face is averted or obscured. My images are similar to conventional portraits. I try to capture the total persona and my subjects are usually looking directly into the camera. I strive to capture a natural look, as a friend or lover might see the person at home. When I photograph couples, when possible I try to capture moments of true intimacy and affection.

In seeking subjects I sought as much diversity as I could find. I deliberately chose subjects not normally appearing in nude photographs. These portraits include people of all ages, sizes, shapes, skin color, lifestyles and sexuality.
