After more than seven years in corporate publishing, I decided to start my own independent editorial and publishing consultation business to work directly with authors, agents, and publishers. I help writers develop and strengthen their voices, tighten (or elaborate!), clarify, and keep the plot moving in order to create a memorable and saleable story. My clients have gone on to secure representation from top literary agents and sold their manuscripts to established houses.
I began my publishing career as an assistant at the Sandra Dijkstra Literary Agency in Del Mar, California, where I watched the exciting careers of authors such as Lisa See and Amy Tan. Next, I lived in Aix-en-Provence, France, for two years where I taught English in both high school and elementary levels in the French public school system and was part of a bi-lingual book club. I then managed a clothing store in Carmel, California before moving to New York and finding the place where I really felt at home: the editorial department at the Crown Publishing Group (Random House). I worked for Random House for five years and was then offered the job of Senior Editor at Simon & Schuster’s Touchstone imprint. Touchstone was a wonderful experience, but after having my son in 2013, my husband and I made the decision to move back to California to be closer to our families as we started our own family.
Today, I edit adult and YA fiction, with particular emphasis on historical fiction, women’s fiction, and thrillers. I’m always looking for bold new voices to tell stories that feel fresh and unfamiliar.
I live in Pacific Grove, California with my husband and toddler son.
