About the Book
Mortalis is a series of self portraits, where the photographer is placed as 'victims' of murders, or possibly even suicides, it is up to the viewer to determine this in their own minds. The title of the project, Mortalis literally means mortal, this title was chosen as it is meant to act as a reminder of the viewers mortality, linking this together with the sinister nature of the photographs, it is meant to make the viewer feel uncomfortable. Even though the photographs are of a dark and sinister nature, they are also supposed to have a hint of beautifulness about them, which again serves to make the viewer feel uncomfortable, as it is not normal to find pictures of 'murder victims' beautiful, and this is what makes this series of images so alluring.
