About the Book
Derived from the focus of identity through race and sexuality, the Awakenings is a working culmination of such ideas composed in both poetic and photographic content.
The collection of photographic memoirs began with the series Alabaster Baby, the only body of images done in traditional black and white completed in 2007 (see figure 1).
I call this series the Awakenings because within each narrative lies a revelation of sorts placed amidst specific circumstances that perhaps do not call for such an enlightening experience.
