About the Book
A documentary record of the closure and subsequent re-opening of an industrial site in the South Wales town of Maesteg. The factory had employed the photographer grandparents for a time and its closure in 2006 left his parents redundant.
The book records the traces of the departing and entering workforces in the environment, presenting itself as a kind of immediate archaeology.
Though the works is based around this familial link, the project also relates to the current problems faced by the UK manufacturing industries. However, by focusing on the everyday detritus at the site the work examines the point at which everyday experience and larger global economic concerns bisect.
