Martin J. Smith is a journalist and magazine editor who has won more than 50 writing awards. He also is the author of the crime novels "Combustion," "Time Release," "Shadow Image," "The Disappeared Girl," and the Edgar Award-nominated "Straw Men," and the author of four nonfiction books, including "Mr. Las Vegas Has a Bad Knee" and "The Wild Duck Chase," upon which is based the award-winning 2016 documentary film "The Million Dollar Duck." He co-wrote, with Patrick J. Kiger, the pop-culture history books "Poplorica" and "Oops." He and his family live in rural Colorado.
