David R. Casto, MD, was diagnosed with ALS four years into his retirement from a varied medical career. After having practiced Internal Medicine for 28 years in Marietta, Ohio, where he was born and raised, he moved with his wife to Laramie, Wyoming, until his diagnosis and decline brought him to Columbus, Ohio, where he penned these poems.
