About

I never thought I would be a fine artist. I studied history of art in the US, then architecture in the US and the UK. I practiced architecture in the UK and Portugal where I have lived for 40 years. I have degrees in international education, painting, etching and film making. I taught art in two international schools in Portugal, returned to study fine art at Arco in Lisbon and in my 50’s became an artist. It has been a circuitous route but logical too. I specialise in painting, printing and video art. During Lockdown I have taken myself and our dog into the Serra de Sintra where I sketch and paint on a daily basis. It is therapeutic but has also given me a chance to concentrate on watercolour and try to catch the magic atmosphere of this World Heritage Site in Portugal. I teach in my studio in Colares, offer art sessions to locals and rental guests and exhibit regularly in Portugal and the UK.
