Born in Yakima, Washington, 1941. Attended public schools in the Yakima valley. Attended Central Washington State College (CWU) 1960-64 in Ellensburg, graduated with honors with Bachelor of Arts in art and crafts. Married Lynda Fisher in 1964 and moved to San Jose, California, where he attended San Jose State College (SJSU). Graduated 1966 with a MA degree in printmaking. Hired as an Instructor, 1966, at the University of Washington School of Art in Seattle. Promoted to Assistant Professor in 1969, Associate in 1974, and Full Professor, 1978. He established the West coast’s first Video Art course making a printmaking curriculum to include electronic arts; subsequent research grants added personal computers to the curriculum plan. Speaking engagements put him in contact with world printmakers and, with his family he circumscribed the globe in 1983 on a fact-finding mission supporting his proposal for media arts studies. Failing, he resigned in 1985 to work privately toward developing it
