Marina Gorlier was born in Lisbon in 1949. She holds a BA in Economics from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, and worked in an American company for 30 years, holding both national and international positions during that time.
She has always felt the appeal of travel and photography, using the latter as a a testimony of her interpretations of what she has discovered, first occasionally and then often, from the 1980s onwards, when she began to travel compulsively to lands hitherto only dreamed of, and using SLR cameras.
Simultaneously she attended courses on the history and aesthetics of art, workshops with national and international photographers and completed a post-graduate diploma on the Theory of Photography at IADE and more recently the MA in Visual Culture also at IADE (Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing).
