Artist Statement

The Contemporary and Imaginative artwork of Joyce Steinfeld uses interpretations of the ancient pictographic languages of the Hebrew alphabet and Chinese characters. In combination with unique and elegant abstract shapes.

Words are Sacred. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. Words are magical whether they are Chinese, Hebrew, English or any other language. They can be used to impress upon our unconscious mind and direct the way we would like our lives to unfold. We can use a tool from Feng Shui called the Bagua Grid to help us place these Word Sculptures in our home and work environment to further enhance the power that these words have for us. Every time we pass and see the Word or Letter Sculpture we are reinforcing the special meanings that we have attached to these objects of art, and are uplifted by their presence.
