About
Each body of work (or project) starts with a question, but I am not searching for an answer. The goal is to explore the world that surrounds the question. The question drives the direction of the project and my approach is grounded in the filmmaking process; approaching it as if shooting a short film. There may be stylistic differences between projects, but themes and ideas may cross between the bodies of work. I am not bound to a certain camera, film stock, or capture process. I listen to the “voice” of the project and it “tells” me how it wants to be recorded and presented in the physical world. Though ideas and experimentation are the foundation of my creative process, my primary concern is the photo’s ability to hold the viewer’s attention. Upon completion of a project, the images are arranged as if they are songs in an album, both able to stand on their own as a single unit, as well as together to tell a larger story.
