I'm a New Yorker and I miss looking at people on the subways and streets. I miss their gestures, their bone structure, eye color and their hair texture, the patterns on fabrics from places around the world I will never see, the lipstick shades and team logos in the morning subway light or on 6th Avenue. THE SPACE BETWEEN is an ongoing photographic series made during the COVID quarantine from 3/15/20 through 5/1/20 in my South Brooklyn neighborhood while walking my dog. All images are shot with a safe 200 mm lens in an area which is home many of the front line essential workers who are a from disproportionate number of minority groups. Every single subject is photographed with love, respect and affection for the resilience and fortitude always apparent in New Yorkers during tough times. The 52 page hardcover collection of color and black and white photographs is 13"x11" and self published by Olive and Root.
