This is a book that accompanies and serves as the legend to the tile illustrations on the Mahjong game set entitled, Tawhay. The project revolves around the personal and the collective socio-political narratives of historic Negros Occidental. Through a cultural pastime in the game of Mahjong, I visually highlighted select documented and hearsay accounts from legendary tales of origin, to World War II memoirs, the anecdotal sugarcane heyday, and its fall, leading up to the tragedy of the Covid-19 pandemic we are living in today.
