About the Creator
Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Daria Valkenburg is a retired accountant, adult education instructor, and writer, who lives on Prince Edward Island with her husband Pieter, a retired diplomat. “Daria always wanted to be a journalist, but somehow ended up an accountant”, her husband Pieter said. “Since retirement, she has time to follow her passion for writing and painting. She’s very creative.” When Pieter began his research into WW1 and WW2 soldiers Daria began a blog to document his research so that it could be shared with others. She also has a newspaper column in the County Line Courier, an Island newspaper, which features some of the stories from the blog. In addition to ‘No Soldier Buried Overseas Should Ever Be Forgotten’, she is the author of two children’s books, a farm accounting book, and numerous articles on genealogical, historical and military research, agribusiness topics, and hearing loss.
