    About the Book

    Edit

In subtropical heat, the author entered Okinawa's*
Naha City wearing 'glass aprons' (a local brand of
clip-on sunglasses) and cotton jacket sporting a
label 'You become the best hero wearing this outfit'.
Emboldened, he went in search of photo-ops, as
F-35 fighter jets roared overhead, in search of
trouble in the East China Sea.

*Okinawa is the largest of the Ryukyu Islands,
situated in the Pacific Ocean. The people speak
Japanese but have their own history, culture
and language (shimakutuba or 'island speak').
