About the Book
The word “mandala” comes from the Sanskrit language, in which it means “circle”. In the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, a mandala is a symbolic representation of the universe and the individual’s place within it. It is often used as a spiritual and ritual symbol, and is believed to help the viewer focus their thoughts and enter a meditative state. The creation and contemplation of mandalas is also used as a tool for personal growth and self-improvement. The word “mandala” has also been adopted in other languages, and is used to refer to any geometric design that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the universe.
My exploration of these circles (mandalas) is purely artistic and visual. I have discovered that the circular shape embodies a sense of completeness, fluidity, and dynamism, evoking a poetic and inspirational atmosphere. Through the utilization of new artistic tools, such as digital visual technologies, the potential for creative expression is limitless. I invite you to experience these ‘variations on a theme’: the Digital Mandala.
