About the Book
In this book I have tried to create a visual experience comparable to that of walking through the streets of London. I think of the camera as a tool for slicing time and each photograph as a direct rendering of a state of mind. My visual impressions, sometimes disturbing, admiring or longing, are gathered together and sequenced to form a visual narrative.
The term diptych originates from the Greek ptykhos meaning to bend. I pair images to create graphic tension as well as spatial and temporal dislocations in the manner of a dream. Perception is a blizzard of sense data which our brains must filter in order for us to comprehend what we are experiencing. But it is the ambiguities of understanding at the edges of perception that interest me, charged as they are with the same intense and looming emotions as dreams.
