    About the Book

    Edit

This is a fast moving and thought-provoking political thriller, based on real world events affected by personal ego’s, disillusionment and, just a hint of romance. A man with a troubled past and apparently not in touch with his own family, is driven to help what he sees as the oppressed people of Palestine. On his journey, his colleagues become his family.
One of the two other characters is a single woman working for the CIA with responsibility for the Middle East intelligence. She has risen to her senior position while excluding a social life. Despite wanting a man in her life and her mother’s best efforts to get her to marry and settle down she has no time for romance. The other key player is a hot-shot London stock market trader. Not overly arrogant, but very successful, well recognised, good-looking and self-confident enough to carve his own path. He loves fast cars and women, but only intelligent, challenging women are of anything other than fleeting interest.
The actions of all three of these characters are seemingly unrelated. Then, over a very short timeframe they are drawn together by the events unfolding. The action moves rapidly between London, both Downing Street and the Stock Market, Vancouver where the main character has set his plan into action, and the CIA in Langley Virginia.

I was brought up in South Africa by parents who dedicated their lives to ending apartheid. Every dinner table discussion was about South Africa's racism or global events at the time. These included the Russian invasion of Hungary, the demise of General Franco in Spain, and the rise of many independent African leaders. My upbringing left me with a severe dislike of politicians (with very few exceptions), and a hate of injustice, be it personal, against a group, or by one country against another. I have no doubt this will be apparent to any reader.
