“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones, for I say unto you that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my father, which is in heaven.” Matthew 18:10 (KJV)

Bill Mitchell is a pastor at Boca Raton Community Church in south Florida. His wife Liz is author of the book “Journey for the Heart, Hope When Life’s Unfair.” Bill and Liz traveled to Africa to see firsthand the work Christ is doing in the Kibera slum through the efforts of the Awana ministry.

This is the story of their journey.

Awana International empowers Christian leaders worldwide to train children to know, love and serve Christ. As a global leader in Children’s ministry, we advocate the importance of the spiritual development of boys and girls across all types of communities, cultures and countries. We do this by equipping local Christian leaders through Awana certified training and resources for running an effective Awana program. The ministry also expands its kingdom impact through partnerships and leader-networking. This approach to reaching and discipling kids for Christ takes place through national ministries run by the countries themselves. Visit our website for more information
