Vintage photographs of neon signs. In 1979, a class assignment at San Francisco State University’s School of Creative Arts resulted in a book of photographs of neon signs. Using then-new technology to transfer 35mm slides to a color photocopier and double printed on clear acetate to mimic the luminous glow of a neon sign, it was an attempt to capture what was a rapidly diminishing form of advertising as well as visual art.

The professor at the time was so impressed that she mentioned that the student should look into publishing it. It took more than thirty years and even newer technology to do so. Better late than never.
