    About the Book

    Edit

In the magical Kingdom of Orange Lies, young readers meet Krash Praytell, an overconfident but hopelessly inept wizard who graduates from one of the lowest-ranked wizard schools in the land. When the Orange King appoints him Grand Wizard of the realm, Krash blunders from one magical misadventure to the next: firing wise wizards, misreading enchanted scrolls, arresting the wrong baker, and ignoring real monsters while chasing imaginary ones.

But when the kingdom begins to unravel, a group of elder wizards known as the Keepers of Light gather the truth Krash tried to bury. Their confrontation reveals the heart of the tale: truth may be quiet, but it always glows brighter than even the grandest lies.

“The Wizard From the Rusty Tower and the Kingdom of Orange Lies” is a whimsical, vintage-style fantasy story told in delightful rhyme and illustrated in nostalgic Little Golden Books fashion. Playful, clever, and richly satirical, it offers children (and adults who know better) a magical reminder that honesty, wisdom, and real skill matter far more than noisy confidence.

    Ray Rauch
    Ocala, FL

Ray has been gaming for over 35 years, starting back when AD&D charts were confusing, dice were weird shapes, and nobody knew what THAC0 meant, but everyone pretended they did. A lifelong fan of theater and dramatic nonsense, Ray delights in entertaining complete strangers who, by the end of the night, usually become co-conspirators in chaos. He lives in Ocala, Florida with his wife, horse, 2 dogs and 11 chickens and runs a weekly TTRPG game at the local shop, where many of his wild ideas are born, tested, and occasionally survived. When Ray isn’t writing modules, poli-sci/satire, wrangling players, or rolling natural 1s at critical moments, he’s dreaming up new worlds designed to make people laugh, cheer, and wonder why they ever trusted the NPC with the oddly specific warning.
