The geometric design comprising of seven circles known as the seed of life is referred to, and generally considered to be the 'Genesis pattern'. In this book I express an alternative hypothesis and develop the concept of the Genesis pattern to be the seven circle symbol shown on the front cover of this weighty volume. I propose that this drawing is derived from ancient Gaelic artwork crafted during the Neolithic period; through the Bronze/Iron age and into the subsequent early Christian period. In this work I propose a theology for these ancient peoples and decode their earliest surviving abstract, reductive art. I have then combined these ideas with my own explanatory drawings, illustrative photographs and writings that explore the symbolic union of the physical and metaphysical.
