About the Book
Rome...?
Why?
Why do 13 photographers who live in Rome wander around the city, one of the most iconographic and best known in the world and decide to photograph Rome without searching for ... "Rome"?
13 people meet. It is a pause between many life changes. Some have just changed jobs, others have just come back to Rome, others will leave, some would like to leave and don’t. Maybe others would like to return. In this pause for a few months, they stay and decide to participate in a joint project.
Perhaps the only thing they have in common is the need or desire to leave, or try and leave for somewhere else, towards something we are not, we don’t have, that is not ours because we can’t see or don’t want to see or can’t understand.
So it seemed natural to look within Roma for what could be Beijing, London, Paris, Rio ... the World.
In this project, there are no roots if not just to look for something that you can take with you, if after this moment you should start to wander. More so if there is a need to continue thinking that they can wander.
So the 13 have made this journey through a Rome that’s not Rome”, with that undercurrent of melancholy brought on by the certainty that the search is not over yet, because at the end Annalisa, Carla, Frederick, Franz, John, Joseph, Lucio, Manuela, Maria Rita, Paola, Patricia, Patricia, Robert will continue to search for one of the many faces of Rome
