Curated by Jyl Kelley, Language In-Form highlights Wanrudee Buranakorn’s Thai/American history as a working artist since 1995. She studies the possibilities of imaging the female form through the possibilities of her media. Her works display movement, juxtapose light and shadow, image and text, at times obscure in order to reveal. Placing figures in an array of settings and contexts via an array of media and materials, she explores imagination, language, and identity, using scale, reflection, and translucence to involve viewers directly in the work. Her images of women by a woman create a unique counter-perspective of the traditional view of the female form as art object.
