Ryan Mitchell wants the newest and most popular video game, Space Hero. His parents think video games are bad for kids so they don't want him to get it. However, they grow tired of his complaining and allow him to buy it with his birthday money.

Ryan plays the game online with Heather and Toby during a storm when the house gets hit by lightning. Ryan wakes up and finds he and his friends are stuck in the video game. They are about to embark on an epic space battle of Earthlings against the Zordians, from the galaxy of Zor. Ryan must defeat the evil emperor Metraz in order to go home.
