Greene County Schools is a small, rural, low-wealth district located in eastern North Carolina. The system consists of five schools and serves approximately 3,250 students in grades PreK-12. The student population is majority minority with approximately 43% African-American, 33% white, and 22% Hispanic. The current immigration rate indicates that the percentage of Hispanic students will continue to rise. Approximately 12.8% of the student population is also identified as having special needs.
