    About the Book

    Edit

This book is about brand identity guidelines. I am writing this book as a part of my final project of MA visual communication. My area of practice in this course is Branding and Identity design. I have tried to explain every aspect of brand identity guidelines through this instructional book. The book is mainly targeted to the design students joining MA visual communication in Branding and identity design. Readers are expected to have some graphic design background.

Book is divided into three main parts. First part includes introduction to branding and identity design covering definitions, importance and process of design. Second part is the main part of the book explaining importance of brand identity guidelines. It includes detail explanation of each of the element included in the guidelines with visual examples. Third part of the book is about the new generation of identities such as flexible identity. This part mainly includes definition of flexible identity and how guidelines can be built for such identities which changes every time.

It was my first experience of writing and compiling a book. I got opportunity to learn a lot in the process. I hope you will enjoy reading my book as much as I enjoyed designing it.

My name is Rama. I am a Graphic Designer. I am doing MA Visual Communication at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. I specialize in Branding and Identity Design. I love designing meaningful graphics. I am generally crazy about shapes and colours. I come from Product Design background. I hold a Degree in Product Design (B.Design) from The University of Pune, India. Learning Product Design was fun. Working with function and form was interesting. In fact studying product design is helping me a lot in my MA Visual Communication course . Basic knowledge of form, shape, colour, finish and space gives me an extra edge in my designs. After finishing my B-des in 2008, I started working at Tycka Design Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, India. I was handling Product Design and Graphic Design projects. My interest in Graphic Design flourished during that period. In February 2010 my networking skills provided me with some great exposure as a Graphic Designer.
