During 2011, I joined the ranks of millions of people who purchased an Apple iPhone 4. The device is not only a mobile phone but a miniature mobile computer with a built in 5 megapixel still camera.

Combined with the Hipstamatic app, the portable device packs a powerful punch and is capable of taking photos that are reminiscent of 6x6 medium format photography.

Being a fan of black and white medium format photography, I found using this little camera a great way of instantly and inexpensively getting that classic look normally reserved for cameras such as Hasselblads, Mamiyas, and Rolleiflexes.

Alec Dawson is a Mexican-American photographic artist who has been photographing the art nude since 2007. Alec was born in Mexico City in 1975 and has lived in the United States of America, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Turkey, and Australia. Alec studied and received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and has worked as a consulting engineer in that field since then. He has no formal training in the arts and is almost entirely an auto-didact on the subject of photography. Alec enjoys exhibiting his photographic art on the internet as well as local exhibitions as well as giving lectures on the subject on the art nude to photographic societies.
