Stephen was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1964, where he lived until he was seven. His family then moved to Dundee, Scotland, where he went on to study drawing and painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, graduating in 1987. Following this, he spent some time travelling around Spain, Italy and France and attended Post Graduate studies at Cyprus College of Art. He painted and drew, made cardboard constructions, carved and began making ceramics and sculpture in the early 90’s. In 1999 he travelled to Australia, where his father was born, and eventually he settled there permanently. Stephen has exhibited extensively for over 20 years in the United Kingdom and Australia. He has a teaching post at Sydney’s National Art School.
