About the Book
REVISED 2012 EDITION! A bright, breezy look at the paintings and architectural work of one of Palm Springs' most prolific and sought-after artists and interior designers, DONALD LLOYD SMITH. A resident of Palm Springs, California for over 35 years, Mr. Smith has a well-established reputation for excellence in the fields of both art and interior design. Several years ago, Smith applied his expertise to the renovation of a Palm Springs landmark, The Movie Colony Hotel. Owned and operated by Smith with partners Linda, O'Mera and Walter Haake, the hotel is notable as the first non-residential structure developed by celebrated architect Albert Frey. Along with exterior spaces, each of the hotel’s fourteen rooms were individually re-designed by Smith, and their uncluttered Modernist chic is complimented by Smith’s paintings, created especially for the project.
