Design and Access statement for Shortmead Street showing the design principles of the site and its context. The book follows the discussions with the key stake-holders and the various inputs that have evolved the design. Quintessential issues such as the environmental design, following the 'Merton Rule' have been demonstrated and followed throughout the design and implementation of the building. The site context has been analyzed in great detail and fed though to inform the final design, taking subtle clues from the surrounding context, creating a sense of 'Genius Loci'. Therefore materials, form and elevational treatments become specific and unique to the development and its loci.
