About the Book
This book is a 60 year retrospective review of Margot Lovejoy’s writings and works. Each project is presented with full color documentation alongside Lovejoy’s original artist statements and theory about the project.
Margot Lovejoy’s media art includes video, installation and internet projects and have been widely exhibited. She is Professor Emerita of Visual Arts at the State University of New York at Purchase and author of “Digital Currents: Art in the Electronic Age” (Routledge, 2004). She is editor of “Context Providers: Conditions of Meaning in Media Arts” (2011). Amongst other honors, she is recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship; an Arts International Grant in India; several NYSCA grants; NYFA’s Gregory Millard Fellowship, and the 2007 CAA Award for Distinguished Teaching of Art. She has also been a speaker at conferences on art and technology internationally.
Since 1992, she has been committed to engage audiences in direct interactive experiences through installation works, websites and bookworks. Exhibitions include amongst others, the Whitney Museum; MOMA P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center; Queens Museum of Art. Her pioneering website PARTHENIA (1995) has been archived as part of adaweb.com and was part of current exhibitions at the Reina Sofia Museum, and the Castello Museum, Spain.
